Cambridge ESOL Exam: First Certificate in English
 
     
 
First Certificate in English (FCE) is the most widely taken Cambridge University English language examination. FCE is an Intermediate level examination aimed at those whose English language skills are already reasonable for many practical purposes including business and study. After successfully completing the course students should have a broad vocabulary and have developed communication styles for use in a variety of practical circumstances.

* 9am-12pm, 12pm-3pm, 3pm-6pm (3 hours a day from Monday to Friday)
* Some classes may be available on weekends and evenings

 Course structure The course is structured to prepare students for the five components of the FCE exam (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking)
    
 Assessment

The FCE exams are comprised of five papers (Reading; Writing; Use of English; Listening and Speaking)
Exams are taken externally at an authorised Cambridge ESOL examination centre. There are three opportunities a year to sit the exams. These fall in March, May/June and November/December.
    
 Entry requirements
One of the following:

* Williams College General English (Intermediate or Upper Intermediate level).
* PET -Good pass
* IELTS score of 5.0+

If arriving after studying at another institution students may need to take a computerised placement test and oral assessment to confirm that they have the ability to study at FCE level.
