Cambridge ESOL Exam: Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
 
     
 
The Certificate of Proficiency in English is the highest level of all the Cambridge ESOL exams. It is aimed at candidates who excel in the use of English and are nearly at the level of an educated native speaker. Practically based, the exam tests candidates' abilities to perform in almost any English language context. Students will be able to successfully make use of an extensive vocabulary and grammatical know how to function in most educational, commercial and professional situations.

 Class Times
* 9am-12pm, 12pm-3pm, 3pm-6pm (3 hours a day from Monday to Friday)
* Some classes may be available on weekends and evenings

 Duration * 12 weeks
    
 Course structure The course is structured to prepare students for the five components of the CPE exam: Reading; Writing; Use of English; Listening and Speaking
    
 Assessment

* The CPE exams are comprised of five papers (Reading; Writing; Use of English;   Listening and Speaking)
* Exams are taken externally at an authorised Cambridge ESOL examination centre. There are two opportunities a year to sit the exams. These fall in May/June and November/December.
    
 Entry requirements
One of the following:

* Williams College General English (Advanced level) certificate.
* Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English pass
* IELTS score of 6.0+

If arriving after studying at another institution students may need to take a computerised placement test and oral assessment to confirm that they have the ability to study at CPE level.
