News: Charity Day a Knockout Success!
Charity Day was a knock out success in many ways . Not only did we raise an amazing £300 for Charities Barardos and KidsCompany but everyone enjoyed themselves immensely.
Students worked together with their classmates to come up with the most creative and energetic games. There was a dart game, “Balloon Blast” (where you had to try and pop the balloon of your opponent), bowling, a coin throwing game and “Teacher Knockout” (where you had to knock over skittles with teacher and lecturer’s faces on them). There was also a “Guess the Card” lead by a rowdy group who refused to be ignored by anybody walking past and a “Steady Hand Game” which required a lot of concentration. Then there were those students who got really creative drawing Henna Tattoos on students and some who made the most delicious sweets and cookies.
So many students attended the Charity Day that the reception area was packed full of people and at one stage there was a huge crowd in Room 209 cheering on the Balloon Blast contestants. Thanks goes to all those who participated. We raised an amazing £300 for the two charities, Barnardos and Kids Company. When Deborah Price of Kids Company was told of our contribution, she said “Wow! How wonderful!” She has asked whether we want to visit the centres and get involved in mentoring some of the children. I am sure many of our students would be interested so details will be posted on the notice boards soon.

Luke’s class with their “Teacher Knockout" Game!
Barnardos have sent us a letter of thanks. Nyree Hughes was very impressed with our achievement and thanked us for our hard work.
A brilliant effort was made but everybody but perhaps its’ good to mention those classes that did especially well in their fund raising efforts. Rashmi’s BCS group raised £52.50 and Gurinder’s Wed class raised £41.56. This is an impressive achievement and we are grateful for all your effort.
David Curchin donated the chocolate Bunny that we raffled. We sold an incredible 230 tickets for that bunny. All I can say is that I know there were a lot of disappointed hopefuls who wanted to take that Bunny home for the Easter holidays. Unfortunately there can only be one winner. In this case, Rachel Abbott, Assistant Director of Studies at Williams, was the lucky one. Well done Rachel! With a bunny that big,we hope your friends also got to share in the chocolate feast!
Rachel: the lucky one who took home the Bunny!
